About the Company - Three Dog Night GmbH®

Welcome to Three Dog Night GmbH®!

At Three Dog Night®, we deeply care about the well-being of our beloved four-legged companions. In today's world, pets are facing increasing challenges with lifestyle-related diseases. While some may attribute this to overbreeding, we believe it's essential to look beyond that and consider the impact of their diet.

Can we solely blame allergies, skin problems, kidney and liver diseases, pancreatic issues, immune deficiency, fertility, and even cancers on overbreeding? Or is it time to take a closer look at the manufacturing and processing of their foods? We firmly believe that diet plays a pivotal role in the health of our cats and dogs, just as it does in our lives.

With a shared mission to improve canine and feline health, many pet owners, animal health practitioners, breeders, and veterinarians are seeking alternatives to processed foods. One of the widely embraced solutions around the globe is a raw diet, which we proudly offer to supplement your pet's nutrition.

Our raw diet approach is supported by advocates worldwide, who have witnessed remarkable transformations in their pets' health and vitality. We are committed to providing you with high-quality and carefully curated options that prioritize your dog's and cat's natural health and happiness.

Join us on this journey to a healthier and happier life for your canine companion. At Three Dog Night®, we believe that a nourishing diet can truly make a difference in their overall well-being. Let's give our furry friends the best they deserve!

Swanie Simon

Swanie Simon

I was born in Bremen, a city in northern Germany, in 1962. My family moved to New York when I was one year old, and I lived in the United States until I was about thirty, so my entire education was in English.

Like so many of you, my herbal journey started with Juliette de Bairacli Levy's books on veterinary herbalism, when I received The Herbal Handbook for the Dog as a gift in 1985. Although my main interest at that time was pet nutrition, Juliette's books ignited a life long passion for herbalism. Juliette went on to become a close friend and mentor and spent many years living at my farm in the beautiful High Forest region of Germany.

In those early, internet free days, getting an education in animal herbalism was difficult. Most in-depth courses about veterinary herbalism were only open to veterinary doctors. Becoming a traditional animal herbalist required much autodidactic study, so I took classes about herbalism for humans and became very adept at translating the information into "animal". After moving back to Europe in 1991, I studied to become a certified animal naturopath (German: Tierheilpraktiker), and continued my herbal education with (among others), Matthew Wood, Michael Moore, Rosalee de la Fôret, Rosemary Gladstar, Michael Tierra, Jim McDonald and of course, Juliette de Bairacli Levy.

I have been treating dogs and cats holistically for over 35 years now, and began sharing my experience and knowledge through in-person seminars in 2004 and online classes in 2014 in Germany. Starting in January 2024, my online courses will be available in English language. My courses are aimed at pet owners as well as non-vets interested in becoming a traditional animal naturopath or herbalist.

I was born and raised in Germany, and my family has always been fond of cats. However, in 2004, my perspective changed when my mother received a German Shepherd from her friend, Swanie Simon. Since then, my love for animals expanded beyond the world of felines.

My professional journey initially began as a legal secretary, where I supported lawyers for 10 years. However, in 2012, I decided to broaden my horizons and developed an interest in business administration. I started assisting at Swanie's company, initially in the office, and eventually moved on to working with horses and goats in the stables.

Over the past 11 years, my knowledge and understanding of animal welfare, particularly in terms of nutrition, have significantly grown under Swanie's guidance as my main mentor.

In 2016, I took on the role of Managing Director at Three Dog Night (DHN), and later became a Managing Partner in October 2022.

I currently reside with my Maine Coon cat named Judy and my partner.

In October 2005 I (Swanie) moved to Muenchweiler. A particularly beautiful place, consisting of a castle and a few emigrant farms.  This area is also called "the gateway to the high forest".

I was fulfilling a lifelong dream and moving to a detached farm with four hectares of land.

Continuing with my love and knowledge for supporting animal health with the herbs around us, I have continued to study and train in herbal medicine; among others with Matthew Wood, Michael Tierra, Rosemary Gladstar, Susun Weed, 7Song, Cathy Skipper and Michael Moore. Another teacher and dear friend was Juliette de Bairacli Levy, who had the strongest influence on my path.  I have also completed several internships with veterinarians and American herbalists.

More recently I (Swanie) acquired a second home in Les Taillades, France, and have now been dividing my time between the farm in Muenchweiler and my second home, living with friends and family and our dogs, cats, goats, poultry and horses.
